ERP development in highly regulated logistics
The challenge
The client, a global distributor of technical components (e.g., aviation), was using an outdated legacy system. Standard ERP solutions failed to meet the extremely high industry requirements for seamless traceability, certificate management, and complex parts trading. A scalable new development was required, initially for 70 workstations.
The solution
Development of a tailored ERP solution based on our F&C Application Factory. The entire business logic was mapped centrally within the database to ensure maximum performance, consistency, and easy maintainability by the client.
The results
The new system has been successfully in use for years, managing the entire warehousing of 350,000 items as well as thousands of quote and delivery line items daily.

Transparent manufacturing through mobile PDA integration
The challenge
The client’s existing IT infrastructure was fragmented and outdated. Commercial systems and production planning were insufficiently linked. Within the production area, production data acquisition (PDA) was still paper-based, leading to errors, delays, and a lack of transparency regarding material stocks and machine utilization. The goal was full integration and the replacement of paper forms with a flexible, mobile solution that could be further developed by the internal IT team.
Our solution
We developed a tailored application based on the SQL Anywhere database. Through the “Mobile PDA” module, all recording processes on the factory premises were migrated to mobile handheld devices. Data is posted directly into the central database via Wi-Fi (over 60,000 bookings/month) and is instantly available for scheduling and further processing.
The results
The company achieved complete process transparency in real time:
Full transparency: Immediate visibility of the location and quantity of all raw materials, semi-finished, and finished goods, as well as current machine utilization.
Error reduction & efficiency gains: Elimination of errors (e.g., incorrect material retrieval) and downtime. The same number of employees was able to handle increased production and the higher administrative workload.
Competitive advantage: Urgent customer orders can be serviced more flexibly since material availability and capacities are immediately visible.
High acceptance: Employees embraced the mobile, transparent solution exceptionally well.
Support for software vendors
The challenge
For over 20 years, the client has supported more than 1,800 users in business planning. In light of rapid technological change (from DOS to SQL-based systems) and the heterogeneous IT landscapes of their end customers, the core software had to be completely modernized.
The requirement was a easily portable, maintenance-free, and highly stable solution that guarantees smooth operation on standalone PCs as well as in complex network environments (Windows/Linux)—for clients both with and without their own IT departments.
Our solution
We utilized the F&C Application Factory to redevelop the planning application. The combination of object-oriented programming and the flexible Sybase SQL Anywhere database secured the future viability of the software and ensured a simple, maintenance-free installation for the end customer, while maintaining compatibility with legacy systems.

Today, the modernized solution is successfully in use at over 1,800 companies worldwide—proof of the scalability and stability of the solution.

We rescue your legacy
The challenge
A client project required migrating an existing database from SQL Anywhere to the modern and more powerful Microsoft SQL Server. Due to the scale and complexity of the source database, manually converting and adapting the database code (including procedures, functions, and triggers) was a time-consuming and error-prone task.
Our solution
To ensure an efficient and automated migration, our proprietary migration tool dbmAIgrate was deployed. This innovative tool is based on the Microsoft Semantic Kernel and leverages the capabilities of various Large Language Models (LLMs). dbmAIgrate enabled:
Automated analysis of SQL Anywhere syntax.
Intelligent conversion of the code into Microsoft SQL Server syntax (T-SQL).
Accelerated execution of the migration process with high precision.

Replacing shadow IT: Highly specialized planning and control tool

Planning maintenance cycles for an extensive machine park and optimizing the utilization of high-cost operational resources relied on an error-prone and non-scalable Excel-based shadow IT. This legacy system made central control, compliance with service intervals, and transparent documentation of maintenance history and required certificates difficult. The goal was to replace it with a robust, centralized solution.
Our solution
Development of a custom planning system based on the Application Factory (Fischer & Consultants) in combination with SQL Anywhere as a high-performance database. The system was flexibly enhanced with custom extensions in CA Visual Objects and now enables:

A centralized, global web portal was required to efficiently manage the complex structures of a large corporation. This platform had to handle master data maintenance while serving as the primary source for reporting and delivering reliable data for insurance policies across different jurisdictions.

Development and operation of a highly available, scalable web portal. The implementation was carried out using the modern Angular framework for a high-performance user interface and Microsoft SQL Server as a robust database. The solution ensures:

Legacy system modernization: Migration from Visual Objects to C#
The challenge
A software company faced the challenge of migrating an existing application developed in the legacy language CA Visual Objects (VO) to the modern and future-proof C# platform. Manually rewriting the complex, historically grown code was time-consuming, expensive, and highly error-prone. An efficient and consistent migration was required to preserve the business logic.

We advised and supported the software company by using specialized parser technology from Fischer & Consultants for the migration. This technology enabled:

The challenge
A leading German professional association was tasked with modernizing its highly complex billing processes. With hundreds of thousands of invoices per year and a historically grown structure, the existing system was reaching its limits. The main pain points were:
Complexity: An extremely multifaceted product and pricing structure, as well as the parallel handling of cameralistic and double-entry bookkeeping.
Data silos: Legacy data had to be merged from various source systems, consolidated, and migrated into different company codes.
